I have a little extra time on my hands as I keep up with all of the travel alerts here in the UK. It appears that a confluence of the BA crews going on strike and the ever erupting Icelandic volcano, Eyjafjallajokull, are going to be keeping me in the UK for a while.
The BBC is reporting that the volcanic activity might go on sporadically for the next 20 years. Amazing to contemplate how a volcano is disrupting global commerce in the 21st Century. Not only will it cause economic problems but imagine what might happen if there’s an eruption before the London 2012 Olympics… That could be worse than the yellow smog that smothers Beijing.
I was reading about Eyjafjallajokull while sitting in front of a sign for the London 2012 Olympics. At that moment I saw a connection between the two. Maybe it was just an illusion but for a moment it seemed like the London 2010 logo was inspired by the volcanic eruption… Is it possible?… I leave it for you to decide…
The introductory video of the new 2012 logo was infamous for triggering epileptic fits across the UK. Is it possible that it also triggered the volcano? Never underestimate the power of branding!
